Dan & Mini are the owners and hosts of Chalet La Luge. We have a love of entertaining, laughter, fine food, good wine and the great outdoors.
We met in 1994 whilst working on private yachts and soon realised that we had a lot more in common than just sailing. Hiking and cycling (whether road or mountain bike) are both high on our list of pastimes but of course we both have a real passion for skiing too.
We got married in 1998 and had 10 good years in the UK where Mini changed professions from chef to IT analyst and Dan ran his own interiors business.
In 2002 we bought an apartment in the Chamonix valley which is when our passion for the Alps really over took us. We started spending as much time as possible in our new pied-à-terre in all seasons and soon realised that we wanted to find a way to make the Alps our permanent home. We decided to go back to our hospitality roots to set up a catered chalet…the search began.
Having spent considerable time, many kilometres and lots of viewings, we came across La Tzoumaz and when we found the right opportunity the contract was signed the very next day (2nd Dec 2005). Unfortunately there were delays in the construction and we finally received the keys to our completed chalet in the summer of 2008 and our first guests arrived only 5 days later!
As the chalet was nearing completion we got to know people who were having holiday homes built around us. They asked if we would manage their properties and for our first winter we had 2 self catered chalets in our portfolio. This rapidly grew and over the years we have had up to 12 rental properties under our management at any one time. In order to maintain the level of service that we think our guests deserve, we have decided to continue with this as a maximum for the time being.
Its now 2019 and this will be our 12th winter at Chalet La Luge!
