Summer holidays

Chalet ChouChou is available for rent in the summer months too – it’s a wonderful place to stay: quiet, sunny, fabulous views…Relax on the terrace with a book, ideal for family walks along the irrigation channels (bisses) or more strenuous hiking on the footpaths and trails; mountain biking (there’s a ‘blue’ flow trail from Savoleyres), downhill and crosscountry routes, road biking too – the road up from Riddes to La Tzoumaz is the same length and altitude gain as Alpe d’Huez – we see the pros training! In 2016 the Tour de France finished about 45 minutes from the chalet at Emosson/Finhaut, (20th July) which is a really tough mountain stage and a new finish point. We went to watch, it was a spectacular event ! La Tzoumaz is also on the route of the Tour des Stations cycling sportive/race (finishes at the Croix de Coeur, the pass between La Tzoumaz and Verbier, as well as the Grand Raid mtb race (Verbier to Grimentz).
After a day on the mountain use the sauna and jacuzzi to refresh your muscles.
Rentals in the summer are Chf 1650 per week (discounts for longer stays), plus Chf 25 for each person’s bedding and towels. Electricity is calculated on usage at the end of your stay and tourist tax is also due.

Availability/Booking

Please check availability on our calendar above. Rentals are normally Saturday to Saturday. Rentals are from 4pm on your arrival date and we ask that you vacate the property by 10am the following week. Please contact us if you would like to arrive outside of these days/times as we do try to accommodate all requests.
Prices are shown in Swiss Francs; payments to be made in Swiss francs (Chf) by bank transfer please.

Included in the price during the winter season, please see below for summer pricing :
The price shown for the week includes quality bed linen and towels for up to 11 people. The price also includes the cleaning of the chalet, although we do ask that you leave the chalet tidy.  Well behaved dogs are welcome, please let us know if you are planning on bringing your pet at the time of booking.

The jacuzzi is optional, if you would like to have use of it there is a charge of Chf 300. The jacuzzi will be cleaned and the water changed before your arrival, which may not be fully heated on the day of arrival.

Electricity is charged locally at 0.3 Chf per Kw. At the start and at the end of your stay we will read the electricity meter, payment in cash on departure please.  Prices will increase from 2023.
Tourist tax is payable in cash at the start of your holiday. Chf 2.50 per adult per night, Chf 1.25 per child aged 6 – 16. Younger children are free.

Firewood is usually available (to be paid locally) please indicate if required on your booking form.

On arrival we take credit card details as security in case of damage to contents &/or the chalet, or if excessive cleaning is necessary.

To confirm a reservation a 25% deposit will be required with the full sum due 8 weeks before departure.

Please note that Epic Pass, Grand Valira, Sierra Nevada, Mt Ruapehu, Wanlong and Bansko ski pass holders will be charged a supplement when they book to stay at one of our rental properties. There is no supplement to stay at Chalet La Luge.

Spring, Summer & Autumn

The chalet is available for rent year-round. The mountains are a beautiful, green, flowery & tranquil place to be in the spring and summer, in the autumn the colours of the trees make a stunning backdrop.
***VIP Pass*** Play again and again and again ! All visitors to La Tzoumaz are required to pay tourist tax and in return you receive your VIP Pass (summer only), which gives free pedestrian access to some lifts, 50% reduction with your bike and various other discounts on activities etc. Up-to-date info here : VIP pass
The village of La Tzoumaz boasts several children’s play areas – trampoline, table tennis etc in the central square, zip wire and other climbing frames just on the hillside beside this and the Espace Nature area has been developed with activities and fun for all ages; take a break for coffee and homemade cakes, snacks, local wines at the Maison de la Foret while the children play and discover the exhibitions, buy cheese made on the farm from the cows you’ll see grazing on the mountain pastures, lots of walking & hiking routes, mountain biking for the more energetic, time for relaxing outside, local vineyards for wine tasting (the wines of Valais are mostly unknown, but well worth getting to know!) and always with stunning views everywhere.

Summer pricing is very simple:
Chf 1650 for a weekly rental; discounts on 2 week bookings; includes cleaning at the end of your stay
Chf 25 per person for bedding and towels (if 1 person takes a double bed, then the charge will be Chf 50 due to laundry charges).

Accommodation and Description

The chalet has five bedrooms that provide space for 11 guests to sleep comfortably as there are 3 single beds in the end bedroom (4).
Chalet ChouChou was built in 2011 as a lovely family chalet. Spread over 3 floors and with the bonus of a 2nd separate TV/cinema/games/kids room, it’s ideal for both families and friends! Separate entrance to boot room (boot warmer too!) /ski storage and for hiking boots. Wonderful views from lots of windows, it’s as if you are floating above the valley 1000m below. Situated in a calm and quiet area, but only a short walk from the bus stop (100m – winter only), with a 2 minute journey to the slopes. The chalet is 10 minute walk (800m) from La Tzoumaz resort centre.
There are three double bedrooms and 1 twin room, and one triple room. Full details below. We can provide a cot or 2 as well as high chairs, no charge, we just ask that you bring your own bedding for these, and leave them clean, put away & ready for use by others.

The chalet is on 3 floors, with underfloor heating, powered by an eco-friendly air source heat pump:

Ground Floor –

Entrance Hallway – with coat hooks
Living area – Open plan with sofas, cosy corner log burning fire,  TV with international channels, DVD player, free high speed WiFi, sliding double doors to terrace.
Kitchen – modern fully equipped kitchen. Dishwasher, electric hob and oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine, fridge/freezer, 2nd fridge for drinks, full range of crockery, cutlery and utensils, meat and cheese fondue set, electric raclette machine for sliced cheese.
Dining – large rectangular dining table, seats 10, but can certainly squeeze in an 11th!
Bedroom 5 – Double bed 150 x 190;  wardrobe with shelves and hanging space
Bathroom 3 – shower cubicle, WC and basin
Storage room: for ski boots  and boot warmer, ski rack, boot and shoe storage

Lower Ground Floor –

2nd living room,  comfy seating, huge Smart TV – netflix etc, Sonos surround sound DVD, coffee table
Door through to sauna / steam room. Storage area, washing machine, tumble dryer, vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board and 2nd freezer.

First Floor –
Bedroom 1 – Double bed 180 x 2000, doors to balcony with wonderful views across the valley. Large built-in cupboard with shelves and hanging space. En-suite shower room
Bathroom 1 – En-suite to Bedroom 1, with shower enclosure, WC and basin.  Heated towel radiator.
Bedroom 2 – Double bed 180x200cm, doors to balcony with wonderful views across the valley. Large built-in wardrobe with shelves and hanging space.
Bedroom 3 – twin room with 2 single beds 90 x 190.  Chest of drawers and cupboard. Dual aspect windows.
Bedroom 4 – twin room with 3 single beds 90 x 190. Cupboard and chest of drawers. Huge triangular picture windows with wonderful views.  Triple aspect with windows at both ends of the room too.
Bathroom 2 – family bathroom with bath, shower over, WC and basin. Large heated towel radiator.

Outside – The terrace has outside dining furniture, comfortable seating, parasol, BBQ, to the side of the chalet is the jacuzzi, a lawned area and large terrace. Parking for 3 cars.
