What is a catered chalet holiday at Chalet La Luge?

The British have been taking catered chalet holidays for decades. Over the years it has become more refined. Our clients from other countries do not often know quite what to expect or what is included, so here is what we offer at Chalet La Luge. We think it makes for a great ski holiday experience and also summer holidays too!

We take bookings for the whole chalet – we have 6 en-suite bedrooms – usually for 12 guests.

We own and run Chalet La Luge and pride ourselves on our excellent service, great food and quality accommodation. There’s no shopping to do, no cooking or washing up, we’ll take you to the slopes / lifts & resort centre every morning, take you to the rental shop… it’s a happiness holiday! Get out on the mountain, afterwards relax in the jacuzzi and sauna, have a drink in front of the log fire, watch a film (NetFlix, international cable films, hdmi, or old skool DVD)

Much less work than a rental chalet, much more fun than a hotel. It’s really like being on holiday !

The day starts with breakfast for everyone. The boot warmer will be running, (it also runs in the evening to ensure your ski boots are dried after your day on the mountain) so your boots will be warm and ready to put on. Dan will take you to the lifts/slopes in his 4×4.

Mini will be in the kitchen preparing a cake or biscuits for your return.

Beds will be made, rooms and bathrooms cleaned, the jacuzzi chemical levels checked and adjusted, sauna water topped up…. all ready for you.

We, (Dan & Mini) will usually go skiing in the afternoon … maybe we’ll see you out on the mountain somewhere….

Come back to the chalet whenever you want, the free ski bus stops 100m from the chalet. After your day on the mountain, relax in the hot tub with a drink, in the sauna, in the cinema room, in front of the blazing log fire, with a book, chat with us, with the others. Enjoy yourselves !

The evening meal is usually served at 19.30 but if there are younger children we will happily serve a suitable simpler meal beforehand. Maybe they will watch a film or TV upstairs before heading to bed.

Dinner starts with an amuse bouche. The meals vary enormously with dishes from around the world. All dietary requirements catered for, notably we have many guests who can’t eat gluten, some of whom have stayed on several occasions. Then we serve the starter, the main course, cheeseboard, and dessert. Please help yourself to tea, tisane or coffee at any time. There is an ‘honesty bar’ – a fridge stocked with beers, wine and soft drinks, please note your drinks in the book provided and we’ll charge you a small fee at the end of the week. If there is something particular you would like to drink (prosecco, or tonic perhaps, to go with the gin you’re bringing with you) then let us know and we can make sure we have it!

We serve selected white and red wines during dinner, which are included in the price.

We take one night off a week, normally Wednesday, and we will explain the restaurant options to you, and make reservations as necessary. The kitchen is not available for you to use – you’re on holiday, remember !!

All prices in Swiss francs (Chf) Please note that Epic Pass, Grand Valira, Sierra Nevada, Mt Ruapehu, Wanlong and Bansko and any other TeleVerbier partnership resort ski pass holders will be charged a supplement when they book to stay at one of our rental properties. There is no supplement to stay at Chalet La Luge.

As long-time skiers we we knew that we wanted to provide en-suite accommodation for all guests, that it’s important for the children to have a separate area where they can watch TV or DVDs – we have a large DVD library, or various board and card games. This in turn means that the adults can relax on the leather sofas in front of the fire and enjoy their gourmet meal in peace! Then of course there’s the jacuzzi, a top quality tub with numerous powerful jets seating 7. Unwind after the day’s activities with stunning views all around, and for a final muscle relax spend some time in the sauna.
During the winter season bookings are normally on a 7 day catered basis and include:

5 course dinner with wine on 6 evenings. Children served with a suitable menu earlier as required
Carefully selected wines served throughout dinner
Wide range of breakfast options served on all 7 days
Homemade cakes or biscuits with afternoon tea on all 7 days
Unlimited tea and coffee, whenever you want it
Sauna
Hot tub on the terrace
Free high speed wifi throughout the chalet

Prices are for sole occupancy of the chalet, with 2 people per room – all rooms can be arranged with twin or super-king double beds.
Shorter stays will be accommodated where possible. Please contact us with your requirements.

Self catered rentals available throughout the year. Prices include final clean, bedding and towels for 12. Electricity charged separately. Tourist tax not included.

A hearty breakfast and delicious evening meals, huge terrace with hammock, sun loungers and of course the hot tub, for you to relax in, after an energetic day in the mountains. Guides and equipment hire can also be arranged.

You will receive your VIP passes at check in, in return for your tourist tax payment.

Payments to be made in Swiss francs, by bank transfer please.

25% deposit secures your booking. The balance payment is due 8 weeks before the start of your stay. Payments not received by the due date may result in cancellation of your holiday, amendments will be handled on a case by case basis, but we cannot necessarily make refunds nor change the agreed pricing. We operate a strict payment policy and refunds will be made only if we can resell, not necessarily at the same price. Please ensure you have suitable holiday insurance.
